Image dimensions and file formats
How does resizing keep my image proportions?
Width and height define a bounding box. A 2400 × 1200 photo resized within 1200 × 1200 becomes 1200 × 600. The tool never stretches or crops it. Use the product formatter if you need an exact canvas size.
Can I resize images without making small photos blurry?
Leave “Only shrink larger images” selected. Images smaller than your chosen bounds keep their original pixel dimensions, although saving them as JPG or WebP can still change compression quality.
Does resizing always make a file smaller?
No. Dimensions, format and compression all affect file size. A PNG can be larger than its source JPG. Compare the result size shown next to each image and choose JPG or WebP for most photographs.
Can I resize images on my phone?
Yes, on modern browsers with image decoding and canvas support. Start with a small batch on phones because large images use device memory. Processing happens locally, so speed depends on your device.
What are the file and browser limits?
Each batch supports up to 50 JPG, PNG or WebP files, 20 MB per file and 100 MB total. Source images must be at most 24 megapixels. Output dimensions are limited to 4096 pixels per side and 16 megapixels total. Animated WebP is not supported. HEIC, GIF and SVG are not accepted. Output is re-encoded and original metadata is not preserved. Use a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge.
